Low Iron Shower Glass
The standard shower glass installed by Glass Pros Shower Doors is rich, thick and clear enough to please any customer and impress any house guest.
However, the Glass Pros Shower Doors low-iron shower glass contains less ferric oxide than standard shower glass, which enhances its clarity and reduces the greenish tint when compared to standard shower glass.
Fabricating low-iron shower glass is achieved by reducing ferric oxide content. This process decreases the strength of the glass, making it more brittle than standard shower glass.
Glass panels over ten feet in height require extra strength. We accomplish this by adding silica which compensates for the loss in durability from removing the ferric oxide. A higher temperature for the glass tempering process increases the tensile and compressive strength of the glass. For extravagant custom glass showers both methods may be ordered to ensure the richest, thickest, clearest and strongest glass on the planet!
In short, the glass is clearly gorgeous, but expensive and slightly temperamental! But, if you have invested heavily in a lavish marble shower with custom lighting, you may want the luxury clear shower glass to make the best presentation possible.
